Other times either due to the position of the fetus or simply due to its development, it is not possible to be absolutely sure. If we have availability we may be able to offer a re-scan the same day. We will not unnecessarily prolong the duration of the scan simply to confirm the gender but we will try every trick at our disposal! Many people plan gender reveal parties so in these cases or in any other circumstance where finding out the gender is important to the parents, we would insist on another scan at no cost. This has nothing to do with the quality of scanning skills but shows Starlight putting customers first, ahead of profit and ensuring fairness and transparency. Starlight Ultrasound is happy to perform gender scans from 14 weeks and will continue to offer free re-scans if there is an element of doubt. You can read some on our Facebook page. However if you are planning on bringing friends and family, who are welcome to join you in the scan room, and co-ordinating a convenient time for them all to attend can be a challenge, we ask you to consider whether it is worth waiting a week or two when it may be more accurate.
